Procedure Text
Hi hello fellas! It's me again! 😄
In this chapter, I want to tell you about ✨Procedure Text✨
The grammar is pretty much simple. It uses imperative verbs.
Imperative verbs are verbs which create an imperative sentence, in example a sentence that gives an order. It will always sound like the speaker is bossing someone around. Imperative verbs don’t leave room for questions or discussion, even if the sentence has a polite tone.
For instance, imperative verbs are in the form of:
1. Pure verb (V1)
e.g. Close the door!
The verb close is in the form of pure verb (the very basic form of the verb). It does not follow time, tenses, or the number of subject (single or plural).
2. It does have a subject but the subject is hidden.
e.g. Close the door!
The speaker is talking to you but ‘you’ is not mentioned in the sentence. The sentence is actually: “(You) Close the door!”
A good procedure text does not use only imperative verbs. It also needs some other contents such as ingredients and/or utensils needed and steps to be followed.
The structure of a procedure text would be:
1. Title (What is your goal of conduct? e.g. How to Make Flattened Chocolate Cheese Banana or How to Make Meatball)
2. Ingredients and/or utensils (What are you going to need to make something)
3. Steps (How and what are the steps that you want to suggest to people)
