Descriptive Text

Hi hello fellas! It's me again 💖
In this chapter, I want to explain about Descriptive Text 📑

Descriptive text usually describes a single location, facility, event, person or place. It tries to engage all five of the reader's senses to evoke the images, sounds, smells, tastes and feelings of the text's theme.

As with all writing genres, we can guide our students on how best to organize and effectively structure descriptive text.

Descriptive essays require the writer to delve deeply into a person, place, or thing. If the writer is not concerned with the subject, the reader is certainly not.

A good starting point for many students is to ask them to write something that is very personal to them. For example, childhood memories, embarrassing moments or favorite holidays are good topics.

Since the purpose of descriptive text is to describe something so vividly and to express emotions so clearly that the reader will feel them too, personal topics can provide excellent material for this type of essay.

While it can sometimes be difficult for students to define their thesis for a descriptive text, the following process should help us:

1. Choose an interesting topic
2. Think about what you think about it
3. Consider the reasons for your point of view
4. Compose a sentence that includes this point of view.

Following the above process will help students write a thesis statement that performs two tasks that define the thesis statement, namely:

1. To define the subject

2. To present a point of view.

While the statement of a thesis in a descriptive essay is not as central as, say, in a persuasive essay, it still performs an important function of orienting the reader while providing the writer with a clear focus on his energy.
