Young K's Biography 🎶

Music is one component that can not be separated from our daily life as human beings. Through music we can express what we feel, can be a means of recreation and entertainment for the soul. Among the many local genres of the current, K-Pop is one of which is mostly loved by the present teenagers. The popular genre of pop from South Korea is much demanded because of its light music, has a very meaningful lyrics, and the appearance of its stunning artists. From various forms of artist appearance such as solo, duo, dance group (Boy Group and Girl Group), as well as bands, there is one band formation of JYP Entertainment named DAY6 that attracted my attention. The band consists of 5 members who plays instruments of music and also singing. A member named Young K is the idol that I most adore.

He was born with the name Kang Younghyun in the Ilsan District, the city of Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea on December 19, 1993. Young K is the only child in the family. Unlike other only children who tend to spoiled to his parents, not so Young K. while still studying in the elementary school, his parents moved to Canada because of his father's work. Then he decided to go to Canada, his father who has retired back to South Korea with his mother, leaving their child live alone abroad. During the Canadian, Younghyun is known for his English namely Brian Kang. He attended York Mills Collegiate School, a secondary school in Toronto City. He once won the mathematical dance competition and get the first champion. Both friends, Terry and Don Lee, both formed a dance vocal group named 3rd degree. 

When Younghyun had a secondary education, he heard about the K-Pop culture that was riding the leaves among teenagers. One of the largest music agencies in South Korea is JYP Entertainment, is opening an audition to filter out the new talents that will be repeated as a idol. Younghyun who is interested in hearing it directly registered him through the online audition website JYP Entertainment. He sent some videos to show the talent he had. Some time later, Younghyun's father called her son and asked if he had the affair with Jinyoung Park the founder of JYP Entertainment. Apparently he was called because his child wrote his number as contacts that can be contacted on the registration form. Then Younghyun was asked to return to his country and follow the audition directly with JYP Entertainment. After following an audition face-to-face, he was declared and officially a trainee (the person who was trained into artists). Some sources stated that during his training days, he went to school in Cheongdam High School. 

When the start of the training, Younghyun joined in the Trainee group that will debut as Dance Group. However, there is a sudden change because there are some new trainees that have talent in singing and play a musical instrument. Younghyun who also has a talent in playing many musical instruments, transferred to a new group with 4 male trainees: Park Jae, Park Sungjin, Im Junhyeok, and Kim Wonpil. Shortly after, in 2013 they debuted as 5Live in a survival show of MNET's titled "Win: WHO IS NEXT". In April 2015, a new member named Yoon Dowoon joined as drum players and in September, they debuted as DAY6 with a mini album named "The Day" and their main song entitled "Congratulations". 

Many things happened when Younghyun became the part of DAY6. Slowly their band recognized by people and get fans. In 2016, the keyboard player, Junhyeok, decided to get out for personal reasons. His position was then held by Wonpil who previously played synthesizer. They continued their journey with 5 members left and released a second mini album named "Daydream". 

Throughout his career as a member of the band, Younghyun holds many important roles. His personal known as the superstitated, vibrant, and creative person makes it entrusted as a writer of the lyrics and composers from almost every Day of the day and get a license for his creation songs. His achievement is clear when the Every DAY6 project, when its band releases 2 songs every month of 2017 only is clever in streaming the words in the lyrics, Younghyun can play all the instruments played by his friends, such as acoustic guitar, electric guitar, keybiard, drum, and some other musical instruments. He also several times appear as cameo in the Korean drama series. 

He with the day6 has become the annual best band award for nomine of the South Korean music award and managed to win in 2019 at the M2 X Genie Music Awards event, and won the same nomination at the MNET Asian Music Awards in 2020.

During these times, Younghyun is active as a radio broadcaster in the program titled "DAY6 Kiss The Radio" from KBS Cool FM. His cheerful, friendly, courtesy, and hard workers can be an inspiration for us in reaches.
